Obama is very good at calling on us to solve our own problems .... while he spends a trillion dollars or more on 'defense' and wars, and while he gives trillions more any time Wall Street asks for it. Yet somehow, when the rest of us need some help, there's no money left and we are told how we are supposed to just help ourselves.

Back during the election, there were these constant attempts to compare Obama to FDR. That got me to go out on the web and start to read some of FDR's old speeches. They couldn't be more different from Obama's.

This writer got it write. Obama will make vague statements about how we need more jobs. But he doesn't propose anything to make it happen. Obama's always done that in his speeches. And his track record is that this means he won't do anything at all.

FDR's speeches in contrast were filled with programs to help solve the problems that he pointed out. That's why he's famous for his 'hundred days' after taking office. Because he'd been proposing and talking about his solutions for months before that in great detail.

The real story with Obama is that he only serves those who gave millions to his last campaign .. or to his next one. The rest of us get empty words in a speech and nothing more.

I couldn't help noting that our first African American president mentioned Columbia, Iraq, and Afghanistan but not Africa, even though Africa has superseded the Middle East as a source of U.S. oil imports.

President Obama called for all of us to work together - for one another. I am frustrated by legislators who act on their own behalf (getting re-elected) rather than representing the good of Americans. I want health care to be passed - insurance reform to be taken seriously. I like that he calls everybody out -- we all have a responsibility.
